BB King's - New York, NY 20 June 2006 by Karl Sarkozi

It was a great night in New York City last night as Rick played to a sold-out audience at B.B. King's Blues Club and Grill. Rick did not disappoint, both as a musician and stand-up comedian! It was nice to experience the type of solo tours that Rick has done in the past in the United Kingdom, but now has brought this to the United States.

The audience listened intently to Rick's music and applauded at times during the music. I'm happy to report there were no intoxicated fans on hand to spoil the night and in my opinion, only shows that Rick's fans view him as a serious and accomplished artist that deserves respect.

The playlist spanned quite a bit of his career and without spoiling it for everyone, I can say he played music from the Strawbs, Yes, Rick's early and mid 70's albums, Rick's material from the 80's, as a session musician and even the Beatles.

Rick's comedy act is a show by itself! He really had the crowd laughing and everyone enjoyed the stories from his long career.

Unfortunately in the 22 years I have been listening and collecting Rick's music, this was the first and only opportunity I had to see him on a solo tour. All I can say is that I am glad I finally had the opportunity to do so!
