Rick's Ramblings March 2026

Rick's Ramblings March 2026

I can't believe that by the time you read this I'll probably be in America rehearsing with Oliver for the Wakeman and Son short 13 day tour, which as you know, will be my last in America as sadly promoters there are not particularly interested in anything I do and so what is possible and where I can go has now got serious limitations stamped all over everything I try.

I'm told there are no promoters in the west who want to book any of the shows I put together and so with the limitations thrust upon me, it's time to wave good bye to the USA as regards concerts which is very sad for me and I have to be honest and say it's not the way I wanted to bow out of performing in America.

I really wanted to perform the Palladium shows with the 9-piece English Rock Ensemble but again the promoters and agent said there was no interest and so I have finally had to own up to the situation, admit defeat but thoroughly enjoy these final 13 shows with Oliver before boarding my BA flight home from JFK for the last time. (Incidentally, the Wakeman and Son warm up show was really well received in Devizes and a lot of fun too).

I am still more than hopeful that I can take the ERE out to other countries, South America and both western and eastern Europe where there have been offers and a lot of enquiries and a lot of interest shown and so I'm pretty confident my last years of touring can continue and maybe filmed as part of a documentary.

Most of March though is the Wakeman and Son mini tour in America with Oliver and the dates are all listed here on the website. I do enjoy these as it's always great to meet up with friends old and new at concerts, but before I board the plane I have a few other bits and pieces to do albeit mostly meetings!

I am spending a nice day at Bechstein Hall in London, filming and playing a bit of piano for a new documentary about the famous Trident Studios piano, which was surprisingly enough, a Bechstein!

I also have a film shoot discussing the making of Return to the Red Planet which is due for release very soon and a few other bits of excitement which I can't announce just yet.

So that's it… not overly exciting ramblings from me this month but I'll write the April ramblings whilst I'm in America which will include a report on the final tour… lot's happening when I get back and hopefully better UK weather too!

Enjoy Spring

Cheers Rick
