GORR June 2011

Happy birthday to RWCC,
Happy birthday to RWCC,
Happy birthday and thank you,
Happy birthday RWCC

Yes...would you believe the RWCC website is 15 years old this month and it all started when I met Wayne Smith, (now a great friend as well as a great webmaster) , at Heathrow Airport on my way to Japan. He showed me his ideas for the site which completely overwhelmed me and gave an immediate green light and have watched it grow ever since. Even though I don’t understand any of the technicalities as regards websites, I always get a great deal of pride out of people coming up to me and saying what a great site it is ...and I’m always honest and credit Wayne !!!

Well, the final contracts still haven’t been agreed and signed yet as regards the release of all the original re-mastered A&M product, but I am reliably informed by the legal eagles dealing with everything, that it really is the last bit of “i” dotting and “t” crossing and within the next couple of months, we should hopefully see the releases appear in the “real world”.

Jon Anderson and myself have been exchanging music to work on for both songs for the pair of us and of course the upcoming project with Trevor Rabin who has also been sending stuff to Jon and so there’s a bit of a round robin happening which is all very exciting and the quality of the music so far is outstanding and so I have very high hopes for both the album and live appearances.

Talking of live appearances, there is a prospective routing for Jon and myself, which is as follows. (Please note though that final contracts have yet to be signed and agreed, although it really is a formality and also these dates are NOT cast in stone). Jon and I are so looking forward to this musical jaunt and fun will be had by all, that’s for sure.

I am guessing that as soon as the contacts appear in front of Jon and myself, we’ll be officially up and running and I anticipate that to happen this month.

June is going to be an interesting month for sure. Erik Jordan and myself will be finishing off the piano recordings we have been doing at The Granary with my favourite piano. Also I will be doing some more prep music to send to Jon and Trev for the new project.
One Man Concerts are taking place in Barrow and Nottingham, having already done Edinburgh and Swansea.

Meetings galore about television projects, radio production, the third book in the Grumpy Old Rockstar series and three very likely musical projects with three very high profile artistes.

Please log onto the Sunflower Jam website and check out the wonderful rock charity evening that’s been organised in July by Jacky Paice (wife of Ian), and if you want a great rock night out that’s very different...then don’t miss this one.

I’m also off to Estonia this month where I play an annual tournament and a very large cheque ends up at Gt Ormand St. I am deeply indebted to the owners of the Estonian Golf and Country Club who allow this to happen and put in an awful lot of work. The course is fantastic so if you like golf.....take a trip sometime...well worth it, and the medieval city of Tallin is just breathtaking.

The Watchdog series has come to an end and I have my fingers crossed that they might consider some more Grumpy Rick’s Rants for the next series due in September.

Finally, thanks to everybody who writes to me at the site and for all the support and lovely comments you send. It really refuels my continuing ambitions in so many areas, so thanks again.

More next month

Cheers
Rick
